Bio
Tim Amalfitano is a dynamic music educator and versatile performer with a wealth of experience. A graduate of The College of New Jersey, Tim excels in music directing, performing on drums, percussion, and keyboards/synths in pit orchestras, and designing MainStage programming. His diverse skills also extend to vocal performance—ranging from Broadway to classical styles—and providing private lessons.
Currently a music teacher at Roberto Clemente Elementary School in Newark, NJ, Tim spent the past summer teaching musical theater with the Newark Public Schools Summer Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Raphael Hernandez Elementary School.
Tim’s passion for music shines through his wide-ranging experiences, from teaching students in preschool through eighth grade to performing in numerous musical pit orchestras. During college, he brought characters to life in productions such as The Addams Family (Uncle Fester), Little Women (John Brooke), and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Rocky). He also served as the music director for Spring Awakening, where he led vocal instruction, assembled and directed the pit orchestra, and conducted from the piano/harmonium.
Since beginning freelance work in 2021, Tim has contributed his talents to various musicals, including Matilda (Keyboard 1), Titanic (Drums/Percussion), The Little Mermaid (Drums/Percussion), Footloose (Keyboard 2), Peter Pan (Drums/Percussion), Something Rotten (Keyboard 3), Legally Blonde (Keyboard 3), Urinetown (Drums/Percussion), and Once on This Island (Drums/Percussion). His expertise includes creating MainStage programming, optimizing equipment for peak performance, and crafting precise musical scores—ranging from condensed drum/percussion arrangements for junior shows to combined percussionist scores and detailed keyboard books.
Tim’s dedication to music education and performance continues to inspire both his students and audiences, reflecting his commitment to excellence in every project he undertakes.
